The Italian 'Stile Liberty'
For Week 36 we're using Sunshine, Raspberry, Green Gold & Prussian Blue
It’s September, time for a new theme and this month it’s “Vase”.
Vases and vessels are on my mind at the moment because my still life course will be running in soon. Vases often feature in still life paintings and are a simple way to bring in a shape, colour or pattern that can alter the mood or focus of the composition without looking like an afterthought or out of place.
I’ll be co-hosting this month’s #colouricombo with Lori Siebert and we’ll be doing a live painting session next week with dates and times to be confirmed. It’s now three years since I first did a month long Instagram challenge with Lori that developed into this annual program of weekly colour prompts.
This week’s featured artwork and colours come from an influential artist who was a central figure in the Stile Liberty movement, the Italian variant of Art Nouveau that defined early 20th century art in the country.
