We returned from Bali where I was teaching on an art retreat a week ago. I had barely time to catch my breath before I did a live recording as part of The Pigeon Letters virtual Summer Creative Retreat 2024 last Tuesday. Read on if you’d like to explore some fun ways to create printed shapes.
In the live session I demonstrated different ways to used cardboard tubes to stamp shapes and loopy patterns. The printed outcomes can be used as templates to be filled with combinations of colours and is a great way to incorporate the weekly #coloricombo prompts. In the session I mixed some paint combinations using watercolour and painted them on the stamped sheets (see the image above).
After the live session I recorded a video for the #coloricombo community where I show similar processes to that of the session on the virtual retreat. You can watch the video below and full subscribers can also download stamped templates in PDF format.
Loopy Loops Demo
In this video I use cardboard tubes (like toilet paper or kitchen roll inners), acrylic ink (black, brown or dark blue), watercolour paint, a pointed paintbrush and a disposal paper palette or flat disk.
