Coloricombo’s colours from Week 49 are sitting beautifully together, a combination of Warm Pink, Toast, Biscuit & Elephant Grey all taken from a painting by the Portuguese artist Josefa de Óbidos.
I discovered Josefa whilst looking at the itinerary of my upcoming retreat in Portugal, specifically a day trip to the medieval town of Óbidos. Please book soon if you’re thinking about joining us in July 2025, there are only a few places left and I am only teaching on one European retreat in 2025.
Mixing
The mixing demo is at the top of the page and can be viewed by everyone. I’m using Golden’s QoR watercolours and white designer gouache from Schmincke.
Artwork
The colours mixed were used on a Toned Watercolour Paper (affiliate link) sketchbook by Hahnemühle. The paper has a warm toasty colour: I usually paint on white watercolour paper, so this makes for an interesting experiment.
