Whilst in Hydra during September, I saw a painting by Pericles Byzantios in the Lazaros Kountouriotis mansion that’s been turned into a museum. The photo I took of his painting of a workbench with his paintbrushes and materials stacked in a vase alongside the actual objects became the inspiration for this colour combination.
Mixing
The mixing of the pastel colours including Butter, Peach, Baby Blue & Malachite are shown in a demo above (viewable by all).
I used Golden’s QoR colours: Benz Yellow, Alizarin Crimson, Van Dyke Brown, Ultramarine Blue, Viridian Green and Paynes Grey along with Horadam Titanium white gouache.
Colour study vase painting
In Week 40’s demonstration I’ve used the four pastel tints to create a floral design in the shape of a vase. The creating process can be seen below by full subscribers.
